Regulations for the Editorial Board

 

       Journal of Food Safety and Quality (JFSQ, CN 11-5956/TS; ISSN 2095-0381) is the first journal in China focusing on food safety and quality related researches and developments. Sponsors of JFSQ has established the Editorial Board in order to guarantee the academic and editorial quality, to keep pace with the times and to achieve its sustainable development. The working rules are as follows:

1.Members

       One Editor-in-Chief, elected by the organizers. Several Advisors. According to development needs of JFSQ, a number of Honorary Editor-in-Chief, Executive Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor-in-Chief, Category Editor and Regional Editor could be positioned for editing development affairs.

       The Editorial Board is composed of editorial board members and corresponding editors.

2.Selection

       Advisors should be food science and technology experts with outstanding academic achievements, noble academic status and extensive academic influence.

 Members of the Editorial Board are scientific researchers, managers, R&D staff in the field of food science and technology and related industries as well as students and educators of relative majors from universities and colleges; with high academic reputation and social influence, these members are familiar with the development trend of such areas; they study rigorously, have a democratic work style without self-seeking; these people should love this journal work, undertake certain task of solicit contributions and reviewing, and provide some support to JFSQ’s virtuous development.

 The age limits are 65 for Advisors and members of Editorial Board in general, and 80 for academicians and talent with professional titles. Candidates voluntarily fill out and submit the Candidates Registration Form to the organizers before election.

Corresponding editors should not be over age 40, and should equipped with senior professional titles.

3. Responsibility

Members of the Editorial Board should be concerned with the development of this journal(at least once per year); review manuscripts carefully on time (at least one per year); acquire manuscripts activly (at least one per year); work hard in promoting and expanding the influence of this journal (at least quote once per year); make every effort to support JFSQ. Members of Editorial Board are guaranteed the rights of reappointment, recommending and selecting other members; manuscripts signed with their names enjoy priority rights of publication.

In addition to regular duties, Associate Editor-in-Chief should assist Editor-in-Chief in activities related to JFSQ, and is also in charge of the quality control of academic orientations and levels of manuscripts; give sound suggestions to Category Editor and Regional Editor according to the authorization, and be responsible for related final manuscripts; guide the Editorial Department to organize and acquire high quality articles.

Duties of Category Editor and Regional Editor, apart from their regular tasks, are in charge of such work as soliciting and final examination concerned related disciplines and regions.

Corresponding editors should be promising young persons with enthusiasm for the development of JFSQ, and capable of initiating solicit contributions, examine manuscripts and contributions. They will be given priority to serve as the Editorial Board, but have no rights to recommend or select the members of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts signed with their names enjoy priority rights of publication.

4. Tenure of Office

Editor-in-Chief is elected for a term of four years. Every reappointed will not serve more than two consecutive terms. Each time, more than one third members of Editorial Board will be discharged; ordinarily staff structure can be adjusted according to their physical conditions, job performance, development needs in disciplines and job demands. The number of augmented staff should account for less than10% of the total number of the Editorial Board.

5. Headcount

The total number of the Editorial Board has no exact limits, depending on subject distribution and concrete development needs.

6. Meeting

Every Editorial Board can hold one plenary session or regional meetings on a commission basis.

7. Editorial Department

Editorial office of JFSQ is the daily service agency of the Editorial Board. Under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief, Director of Editorial office is served as a associate editor, totally responsible for the liaison work in the Editorial Board.

 

These regulations come into effect on March 1st, 2012.
