聚唾液酸的合成机理、分离纯化及应用于修饰蛋白药物的研究；唾液酸化寡糖及其衍生物的生物合成研究（CMP-唾液酸，唾液酸乳糖等）及功能结构研究；生物多糖（结冷多糖，热凝多糖和威兰胶）及功能寡糖的生物制备、分离纯化，研究多糖合成代谢网络、能量代谢及受氮源调控的微生物生理
