Obesity and its related metabolic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes have attracted people's attention. There have been a lot of reports on the mechanism of obesity, and some studies on the regulation of obesity and lipid metabolism by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) family members have made some progress. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ) and its activators/inhibitors play an extremely important role in fat metabolism, various types of inflammation and immune responses. This review described the regulation effects of PPAR-γ on the lipogenesis, and the relationship between PPAR-γ agonist/antagonist and lipid metabolism, in order to provide reference for further study of the mechanism and control measures of PPAR family in the obesity pathogenesis.
