【】Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of dietary therapy on the changes of trace elements in blood of cancer patients. Methods: 180 patients with malignant tumors admitted to our hospital from May 2013 to June 2015 were randomly divided into study group and control group. The study group (n=96) was given diet therapy by a professional dietitian based on dietary surveys and various examination results, while the control group (n=84) received self-control diet according to dietary guidelines. In the same period, 40 healthy people in our hospital were collected as healthy controls. The levels of trace elements such as iron (Fe), copper (Cu), selenium (Se) and zinc (Zn) in serum of patients with cancer before and after treatment were compared. Results: The concentrations of Cu and Zn in the cancer group were significantly higher than those in the healthy control group, while Fe and Se were significantly lower than those in the healthy control group (P<0.05). Compared with healthy controls, patients with different cancers had lower Cu and Zn than healthy controls, while Se was higher than healthy controls (P<0.05). The cancer of patients with gastric cancer is lower than that of the healthy control group; Fe and Cu in patients with colorectal cancer were higher than those in healthy controls, while Zn was lower than healthy controls (P<0.05). Fe, Se, and Zn in breast cancer patients were lower than those in healthy controls, while Cu was higher than healthy controls (P<0.05). Fe and Se in lung cancer patients were lower than those in healthy controls, and Se was higher than healthy controls (P<0.05). Before treatment, the concentrations of Fe, Cu, Se and Zn in the two groups were not significantly different (P>0.05). However, after treatment, the improvement of Fe, Cu, Se, Zn concentration in the study group was significantly better than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the difference was significant. Conclusion: The levels of trace elements such as iron, copper, selenium and zinc in the blood are closely related to the occurrence of cancer, and diet therapy can effectively control the levels of related trace elements in the blood of cancer patients. |
