      Because of the complex matrix, the safety analysis of food and drug needs more accurate, reliable and convenient detection methods and techniques. The appearance of Q-Exactive quadrupole/electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry results in higher resolution, higher mass accuracy and faster analysis speed for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, so it is very suitable for the safety analysis of different kinds of foods and drugs. In this article, the characteristics of high performance liquid chromatography-Q-Exactive quadrupole/ electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry were introduced, and the applications of high performance liquid chromatography-Q-Exactive quadrupole/electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry in food and drug safety analysis were summarized.
