      The paper briefly introduced the concept, composition, classification, characteristics and detection principle of biosensors. It summarized the application of biosensors in the detection for food quality and quality safety, such as food ingredients, quality index, food additives, harmful micro-organisms, pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, biotoxin, heavy metal, and genetically modified food. Finally, it pointed out the lack of biosensors and discussed the recent development trend and application prospects.
